Kindergarten

Designated Adult

Every Kindergarten student must have a designated adult at the bus stop each afternoon.

If anyone other than the designated adult will be at the bus stop, please fill out a Marathon Dismissal Change Form.

Please do NOT request changes directly to the bus driver in the morning. Marathon School must receive your dismissal form.

If the bus driver has not received a dismissal change from Marathon School --  Marathon School will be called & your student will be returned to Marathon School.

Receiving your student

When your K student is disembarking from the bus, approach the bus door to receive your student. This separates you from the group waiting at the stop and provides assurance to the driver that an adult is at the bus stop to receive your child. This applies at individual student bus stops also.

If a parent/authorized adult is not present at the door of the bus to receive your student off the bus, your student will be returned to Marathon School and you will be called to pick them up.

At large consolidated bus stops, bus drivers will be asking students in grades 1, 4 and 5 to disembark separately. This will allow bus drivers to clearly match the remaining K students with an adult at the door of the school bus.

First Weeks

On the first day of school, please identify that adult to your bus driver.

During the first few weeks of school, Kindergarten students should be wearing their Marathon School name tag which will be mailed to you during the summer.  This will help the driver identify them as a Kindergarten student who needs to be matched with an adult.

We work diligently every day, on multiple fronts, to ensure the safety of our dismissal process which includes the classroom, Marathon School office, bus dispatch and bus drivers. Families are an important part of this process; the above protocol will contribute to making sure our students arrive home safely at the end of the school day.

Thank you for your adherence to these procedures.
