JLA- Wellness
Policy JLA
Adopted: April 4, 2013
Amended: December 10, 2021
The Hopkinton Public Schools promote a healthy and safe environment for all students, faculty, and staff.
It is the Hopkinton Public Schools’ goal to promote the students’ physical, emotional, and social well-being through a coordinated school health program. This includes providing a healthy environment, school nurse services, nutritious school meals that meet or exceed all dietary guidelines set for the National School Lunch Program, health education, and opportunities for physical activities. It is the intent of this policy to encourage students to become independent and self-directed learners by taking initiatives to manage their own health and nutritional needs as developmentally appropriate.
Furthermore, specific actions and/or guidelines have been developed to support this policy, and the consistent application of it will take into account the health and well-being of all students. Education as well as open and informative communication are vital for the creation of an environment with reduced health risks for all students. The District Wellness Committee has developed a Wellness Plan to support this policy.
