HOPKINTON SCHOOL COMMITTEE POLICY

SCHOOL NUTRITION DEPARTMENT CIVIL RIGHTS

Hopkinton Public Schools Nutrition Program will comply with the Civil Rights Requirements outlined in FNS Instruction 113-1 and the 2016 Memorandum of Understanding between United States Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service Civil Rights Division and the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, Office for Food and Nutrition Programs. Federal law and USDA regulations at 7 CFR 15b.13 require that schools make reasonable modifications to accommodate children with disabilities. The Hopkinton Food Services Department, in collaboration with the School Nurse, Building Principal, and Student Services Office, will work to provide reasonable modifications to effectively accommodate children with disabilities on a case-by-case basis. A meal modification must be related to the disability or limitations caused by the disability.  Further, The U.S. Department of Agriculture prohibits discrimination in all its programs and activities on the basis of race, color, national origin, age, disability, and where applicable, sex, marital status, familial status, parental status, religion, sexual orientation, genetic information, political beliefs, reprisal, or because all or part of an individual’s income is derived from any public assistance program. If a participant, parent/guardian, or potential participant reports a concern that involves a federally or state protected class, we will inform, accept, document, and share the complaint or concern in accordance with the procedures outlined in EFE-PRC-1.
