FINALISTS SELECTED IN HOPKINTON SUPERINTENDENT SEARCH

The Hopkinton School Committee is pleased to announce 2 finalists for the position of Superintendent of Schools. The finalists in alphabetical order are:

• Evan L. Bishop, Principal, Hopkinton High School
• Dr. Mark E. McLaughlin, Interim Superintendent, South Hadley School District

A third candidate who had initially been selected has decided to withdraw from the search at this time.

A Screening Committee, made up of representatives of parents, teachers, School Committee members and other stakeholders met to review applications and to conduct initial interviews of candidates in February and March.  Applicants represented a range of experiences and backgrounds, all very interested in joining the Hopkinton team. Following the preliminary interviews, the Screening Committee recommended the above candidates for further consideration by the School Committee.

On behalf of the School Committee, I would like to thank the members of the Screening Committee for the many hours they devoted to the screening process. Next week, there will be separate opportunities for staff and the community to meet with each of the candidates and to provide feedback. There will be more information forthcoming on the schedule of events, but the School Committee anticipates selecting a Superintendent of Schools on April 3, with a start date of July 1, 2025.

SITE VISIT SCHEDULE:

Site visits will be held on Monday, March 24th and Tuesday, March 25th.

• On March 24th, 2025, the site visit team will visit Finalist Evan Bishop in Hopkinton from 8:30am-12:30pm.
• On March 25th, 2025, the site visit team will visit Finalist Dr. Mark McLaughlin, in South Hadley, MA from 10:00am-2:00pm.

IN-DISTRICT DAYS SCHEDULE:

In-district days will be held on Wednesday, March 26th and Thursday, March 27th.

• Finalist, Evan Bishop participate in an in-district day on Wednesday, March 26th, 2025. The community is invited to attend a coffee hour from 4:30pm-5:30pm, to meet the Finalist. School Committee Meeting March 27, 2025

As many people know Superintendent Dr. Carol Cavanaugh will be retiring on June 30 and we are in the midst of searching for a successor Superintendent who will begin July 1, 2025.

The school committee has selected NESDEC to run the search. Carolyn Burke has been selected as our representative to organize the process for Hopkinton.

The Hopkinton School Committee is currently seeking volunteers to assist with screening applicants for a new Superintendent of Schools. The Screening Committee will work to screen applicants and select candidates for a first round of interviews, conduct first round interviews, and submit a list of finalists for consideration to the School Committee. If you are interested in serving on this committee, please complete and submit this application form by Monday, February 10.  The person selected will receive an email from the School Committee by February 17, 2025.
