"FIRST
inspires in young people, their schools and communities an appreciation
of science and technology, and of how mastering these can enrich
the lives of all."

2001
Season, Diabolical Dynamics
During
our rookie year, we successfully constructed our robot on time,
with limited tools, members, and resources (and a little help from
Mother Nature). We engaged in the Regional event in Hartford, CT.
We also competed in the National Event at the Epcot Center in Orlando,
Florida.
2002
Season, Zone Zeal
Our
second year started with out high hopes, a large increase in members,
and even our own room in which to work. This season began with a
design for an omni-directional drive train and secondary torque
drive. After 4 weeks of work on the omni-bot design, we abandoned
it for an outrigger drive train and high torque drive, using worm
gear motors to raise and lower our outriggers. In the end, our robot
could easily able to grab, hold, and push two goals. We competed
in the newly-created New York City Regional and the UTC Regional
in New Haven, Connecticut.
2003
Season, Stack Attack
Our
third season has been the best ever so far. We had two dual speed
gearboxes, with shift-on-the-fly capability. To these we added a
multi-purpose end effector capable of stacking, attacking, and cracking.
We finished the robot earlier than we had in any of our previous
seasons, and with the extra time to practice, the robot performed
extremely well in our first regional at Annapolis, Maryland. In
our next regional at New York City, we started off our first qualification
match with a bang. The score landed us in first placed, where we
remained for the duration of the qualifying rounds.
