Scheduling classes in the LMC

You may schedule your classes into the LMC by signing up in the notebook in the library office. We always appreciate receiving a copy of your assignment in advance of your class visit so that we are better able to assist you and your students.

Signing up for Lab time

Go to the Hopkinton High School Portal page and look for the lab sign up link (PC only) or follow instructions on the Everything MACs wiki. If your class will be using the library as well as the lab, please notify the library teacher about your plans.

Online Study Hall Pass System

To use the LMC during a study students must do the following:

• obtain a media center pass at the beginning of their study.
• sign in at the circulation desk upon arrival in the library. Attendance will be taken.
• sign out if leaving the library for any reason.

Study Hall teachers must do the following:

• Wait at least 15 minutes before taking study attendance so thatthe library staff have time to input passes.

Student passes to the LMC from your classroom

When you send students to the LMC from your classroom, they must bring a pass from you. As soon as they enter the LMC, they should bring their pass to the circulation desk and sign in. Students must sign out when they leave the LMC.

Collection

The library media center has a collection of approximately 16,500 books which have been selected to support the curriculum and needs of our students and staff. In addition, there are Ebooks, videos, DVDs, CD-ROMs, MP3s, laserdisks, maps and posters. If you have materials that you would see added to the media center, please see Mrs. Bright or email the following information: author, title, ISBN, publisher, date of publication.

Instructional Services

Information literacy instruction is integrated into the curriculum. Teachers are encouraged to plan with the media specialist when designing projects which require library resources. Please send copies of your assignments to the library teacher so that we are better able to assist your students.

Periodical Current Awareness Service

We will send you copies of the tables of contents of your favorite journals. Circle the articles that interest you, and we’ll make a copy or send you the magazine.

AV Equipment

There are TVs, VCRs, DVD players and projectors on carts available for check out. In addition, there are tape recorders, a boom box, screens, a laserdisk player and graphing calculators. The graphing calculators are for student use in the LMC and do not leave the library. There are also a digital cameras, flips, and MP3 players which you may borrowl.

Reserve Books

If your students are doing a project, we will create a reserve collection for your class. You may decide whether the reserve books may be checked out overnight or not at all. Books may be checked out on overnight loan after 3:00 p.m. and must be returned by 7:30 a.m the following day.

Interlibrary Loan

For books, articles or other materials not available in our collection, please see Mrs. Bright about borrowing from another library through interlibrary loan.

Laminating

If you have materials that need to be laminated, please bring them to the circulation desk. You will be notified when they are ready to be picked up.
